About the Award
The 2025 NIBA Claims Broker of the Year Award acknowledges the exceptional contributions made by NIBA members working within claims as part of the insurance broking profession.
As outlined in the Insurance Brokers Code of Practice (the Code), brokers play an integral role, working with insurers and clients in claims handling and management.
Supported by Sedgwick, the award recognises those professionals who have consistently been outstanding performers in this area of expertise.
The award recipient will showcase excellence in their claims broking practice and be a leading example of someone who upholds the highest standards of professionalism as a NIBA member. The winner will be able to successfully address the outlined award criteria through examples that include multiple claims or through a single claim, that has demonstrably led to significant improvements in outcomes.
The Award is a national award.
Key Dates
Entrants must be available to participate in their state’s Award Panel Interview and Gala Lunch, as well as all other award activities as outlined below.

- Be a member of NIBA
- Spend at least 75% of their time working in a Claims specific role
- Be available for all the key dates outlined
- Past entrants to the award can re-enter.
- Previous winners will not be eligible for the award.
Must be able to demonstrate a combination of:
- Claims advocacy in action
- Technical competence in insurance as applied to Claims
- Strength of client and underwriter relationships
- Improvement in claims process and practice, leading to better client outcomes.
