Formation of CIBA – Corporation of Insurance Brokers Australia (large, international brokers).

Formation of IBA – Insurance Brokers Association, representing smaller, Australian-owned brokers.
1977
Creation of IBCA – Insurance Brokers Council of Australia as a joint advocacy platform for IBA, CIBA, and LIBRA.
1980
LIBRA and CIBA officially merge to form CIBAust.
October 26, 1982
At the IBA Convention in Melbourne, announced the merger of IBA and CIBAust to form the National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA).
