NIBA Reveals Finalists for the 2026 Community Excellence Member of the Year Award

Media Release

The National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA) is delighted to reveal the finalists for the 2026 NIBA Community Excellence Member of the Year award, proudly partnered with Liberty.

This award recognises NIBA members who have gone above and beyond in serving their clients or making a meaningful contribution to their communities. It highlights the vital role members play outside their day-to-day responsibilities, particularly through acts of charity and community engagement.

For the first time in the award's history, this year's field includes a joint finalist — two members recognised together for a shared community campaign.

Our finalists' efforts include partnering in the Dancing CEOs challenge to raise funds for Women's Legal Service Queensland, aimed at supporting women and children escaping domestic and family violence; leading community and inclusion initiatives that brought colleagues together around fundraising, blood donation and cultural understanding; and building safety standards, training and community programs that keep riding schools, camps and rural organisations running. Collectively, their actions show how brokers turn expertise and empathy into tangible outcomes that make a difference when communities need it most.

    The 2026 finalists are:

    • Lisa Carter, Clear Insurance & Kate Greaves, Goldsworthy General Insurance Services (joint finalists)

    • Benji Klipin, Aon

    • Paul Davenport, Affinity Insurance Brokers

NIBA President Nick Cook congratulated the finalists on their achievements.

"What unites these finalists is a willingness to give their time and energy where it matters most, quietly and without expectation of thanks. That instinct to give back to the community sits at the very heart of what it means to be a broker, and I'm proud to see it recognised through this award. My congratulations to all of them," Nick said.

Nick also acknowledged award partner Liberty for their continued support.

"Liberty has been a tremendous supporter of this award, and we're grateful for their commitment to shining a light on the work brokers do beyond the office,” he added.

Peter O'Leary, Vice President – Relationship Management & Marketing at Liberty, also commended the finalists. "Each of these finalists has made a real and lasting difference in their communities, and it's a privilege to help recognise them. Congratulations to Lisa, Kate, Benji and Paul. We wish them all the very best as we count down to the winner announcement in October," Peter said.

The 2026 NIBA Community Excellence Member of the Year will be revealed at the NIBA Convention, taking place from 18–20 October at the RACV Royal Pines on the Gold Coast.
