The role of the insurance broker
NIBA is the peak representative body for the general intermediated insurance market. It serves as the collective voice of approximately 420 member firms and 15,000 individual brokers.
Whether it’s your home, business, farm or something more specialised, brokers have the experience and market knowledge to match you with the right protection. They are not tied to any one insurer and can access a broad range of products from across the market, giving you choice, flexibility, and confidence.
A broker’s role is to understand your needs, assess the risks you face, and recommend appropriate cover. They draw on their understanding of the insurance market to source policies from a wide range of insurers, helping you compare options and secure value for money.
Most importantly, a broker is on your side. This means they’re there for you not only at purchase but throughout the life of the policy- renewing cover, adjusting policies as your circumstances change, and advocating for you in the event of a claim. With their support, insurance becomes less overwhelming, more transparent, and better aligned with your needs. A good broker gives you more than protection- they give you peace of mind.
