The 2027 Code is Live. Here's What's Coming to Help you Get Ready

News Advocacy

The 2027 Insurance Brokers Code of Practice launched at the NIBA Convention and starts on 1 January 2027.

You can read the new Code here. We've also published a 2022 vs 2027 mapping that shows, clause by clause, what stays the same, what has changed and what is new.

What's coming over the next 12 months

NIBA will roll out training, support tools and guidance through 2027 to help you put the Code into practice:

  • Mandatory NIBA Code training, free for members, to be completed between January and June 2027. You'll be able to do it through your firm's own learning system or through NIBA.
  • A member implementation guide and two Section member guides before the end of 2026.
  • A Code-to-law mapping tool, coming shortly. It shows how each Code obligation sits alongside the laws you already comply with.

One Code, one message

You may see other Code courses on offer. They can be a useful extra, but they don't replace the NIBA training, which everyone working under the Code will need to complete.

"A new Code only lifts standards if everyone reads it the same way. That's why the training, the guides and the tools all come from NIBA, so every client gets the same Code from every broker," said NIBA CEO Richard Klipin.

More details on the training, including how to enrol, will follow before January.
