Representing over 450 insurance brokerages around Australia, NIBA works with Government and regulators to ensure that all Australians have access to trusted advice to help protect the things that matter to them most. NIBA also maintains strong relationships with Government, regulators, relevant industry bodies, consumer groups and government agencies.
Our advocacy work includes:
- collaboration with all levels of government and the insurance industry to share knowledge and promote access to quality risk advice for all Australians;
- submissions to government and regulators on a variety of issues affecting the intermediated insurance industry;
- meetings with State and Federal Ministers, government agencies and regulators;
- issues-based campaigns; and
- commentary in the media.
From time to time, NIBA may ask members to support their advocacy work by engaging with their local Member of Parliament (MP) or state Senator. Engaging with your local MP is an effective way of demonstrating your support for issues raised by NIBA. To assist members with these conversations, NIBA has developed a number of resources including a Member Advocacy Guide, template letters and fact sheets about various issues and the insurance broking profession. A copy of these publications are available below.
