NIBA's social and educational events help our members establish and maintain a professional network, while gaining new skills and knowledge that they can apply to their careers. Through our Mentoring Program, young professionals can benefit from the experience of industry leaders and make a real difference to their careers.
NIBA advocates on behalf of its members and their clients across all levels of government, ensuring the voice of the intermediated insurance industry is heard strongly by decision-makers around Australia and the effects of proposed reforms on brokers and the broader insurance industry are clearly understood.
NIBA has strong relationships with governments at a state and national level and works closely with regulators to ensure that your interests – and those of your clients – are represented.
When you provide superior levels of customer service and technical understanding it’s increasingly important to be able to show that to prospective clients. That’s where a NIBA membership designation can help set you apart.
The Qualified Practising Insurance Broker (QPIB) membership designation is the gold standard and it’s only available through NIBA. It shows you’re more than just compliant; you’re a trusted adviser who has attained the highest standards of professionalism and knowledge.
NIBA members are also subscribers of the Insurance Brokers Code of Practice (the Code). The Code sets out the minimum requirements for conduct and professionalism in an accessible way, strengthening consumer confidence in the integrity of the profession.
NIBA uses a variety of methods to promote your value proposition to the wider world, raising awareness of the valued services you have to offer, while driving business leads in your direction. The Need a Broker website has been designed to put consumers in touch with brokers in their geographic area, or those who specialise in their area of need. Only NIBA Principal brokerages with at least one Qualified Practising Insurance Broker (QPIB) on staff are eligible to be registered on Need a Broker.
NIBA members have exclusive access to discounted rates on tickets to attend seminars, networking and social events, and the NIBA Convention. These discounts can save you and your business thousands of dollars per year.
Each year, NIBA's recognises and celebrates the very best in broking through the annual NIBA awards. These awards include the Broker of the Year award, sponsored by QBE, the Young Broker of the Year award, sponsored by Vero and the Lex McKeown Trophy. The program also includes awards to celebrate excellence in insurance and underwriting.
