Community Underwriting gives back through its Small Grants Program
The recipients for Community Underwriting’s Small Grants Program for 2023 have been announced. The program has been able to support 52 projects that are aimed at making a significant and positive impact on the community in a variety of ways.
In a statement to the media, Graeme Berwick, Executive Director at Community Underwriting said: “In our tenth year of the Grants Program we are proud to have assisted 52 terrific projects across the sector (up from 46 in 2022). The 2023 grants program has made contributions to projects addressing a diverse range of wonderful initiatives.”
There is plenty of diversity in the objectives of the grant recipients and their involvement in giving back to the community. The initiatives that the Grants Program is supporting range from:
- A program targeted at spreading happiness in the lives of children and young people who are diagnosed with cancer
- Personal development and mentoring programs aimed at young boys and girls in high-risk schools
- A program that provides job skills to refugee women in Western Sydney so that they can become employment ready
- A program aimed at the eradication of homelessness amongst young people in Australia
- A community art program targeted at bringing together marginalised people who might feel otherwise isolated
- A rehabilitation and care program for Australian birds and animals
- An education and support program that aims to raise awareness of the impact of Parkinson’s disease.
“In addition, we were able to assist with a range of much needed defibrillators, replacement fridges and other important equipment, health information resources, enhanced signage, sensory gardens and art installations, community and family events,” said Mr Berwick.
“Our annual donations to NFP shareholders and the Small Grants Program enable us to continue to reinvest our client's insurance dollars back into the sector every year.”
