Today, the National Insurance Brokers Association (NIBA) announced the winner of the CGU-partnered 2024 NSW/ACT Broker of the Year award. Supported by new partner CGU, this award recognises the contributions of a standout senior broker who has helped elevate the standards of the profession through their practice.

The CGU-partnered 2024 NSW/ACT Broker of the Year was awarded to Matthew Bates from Bell Partners Insurance at a packed house of over 500 professionals in attendance as part of the 2024 NIBA NSW Gala Lunch at the Fullerton Hotel.

NIBA CEO Richard Klipin offered his congratulations, adding: “NIBA would like to congratulate all the NSW/ACT Broker of the Year state finalists and wish Matthew Bates the best of luck for the national awards.”

Pegah Vaghaye, Executive Manager Broker Relationships CGU said, “On behalf of CGU, I’d like to congratulate Matthew as this year’s NSW/ACT Broker of the Year state winner. His expertise and integrity as a standout senior broker are why CGU is proud to champion broker ambition.”

Matthew will go on to compete for the national awards at the upcoming 2024 NIBA Convention, where the national Broker of the Year winner shall be revealed in Adelaide come October. Thanks to CGU, the national winner will also be a beneficiary of an incredible opportunity to attend a NYU Stern Business School short executive course including flights, seven nights' accommodation, and a quintessential New York experience in the autumn of 2025.

Along with Matthew Bates, NIBA also offers congratulations to the NSW/ACT state finalists for the 2024 Broker of the Year – Sean Morrish from Intercharge Insurance Brokers and Sharon Ling from Lockton Companies Australia.
