Past Young Broker of the Year winners reflect on their experiences
Nominations for the 2024 Young Broker of the Year Award are currently open. Hear from past winners about what winning the award has meant to them and why going through the nomination process was a transformative experience.
NIBA is looking for exceptional young brokers under the age of 35 who have been inspirational advocates for the profession, shown exceptional commitment towards professional development and have strong ties to the broader community.
With the proud support of our partners Vero, we want to unearth the next generation of broking leaders willing to go beyond the ordinary.
The national Young Broker of the Year award winner will be unveiled at the 2024 NIBA Convention in Adelaide. They will walk away with a life-changing learning experience valued at $10,000 and the Warren Tickle Trophy.
But, as our past Young Broker of the Year Award winners share, winning is not necessarily the most important thing. Being part of the nomination process and going on this journey with fellow peers is a priceless experience that opens new doors.
“After participating in a career-changing journey with my exceptional fellow state winners, we had created a bond of mutual respect, and it was clear that any one of us could have claimed the title,” said Taylor Burstow, Head of East West Insurance Brokers and the winner of the 2023 Young Broker of the Year Award.
“What distinguishes the Young Broker of the Year award is the unique set of experiences it offers,” said Mr Burstow.
“The engagement with peers, combined with the community service component, creates a multifaceted experience that sets this recognition apart. It goes beyond personal achievement, emphasizing the broader impact and connections forged throughout the transformative journey.”
Furthermore, past winners from regional areas noted how becoming an award winner helped thrust them onto the big stage, opening new doors and opportunities they had not previously imagined.
“Being a country boy from Victoria living in an area not overly populated, winning the award allowed me to meet people from all over the world that I never expected to encounter in my day-to-day work otherwise,” said Adam Ware, Director of BJS Insurance Brokers and the 2017 Young Broker of the Year Award winner.
For the first time this year, the award is open to self-nominations. So, if you are a young broker holding yourself up to the highest standard of professionalism and dedication to your clients and the community, now is the time to put your hand up.
The nomination process is quick and easy. Visit the NIBA Awards page for the full eligibility criteria and apply or nominate an outstanding young broker before it’s too late.
